Day 30 of 366

This weekend we received some snow. It started Friday afternoon, snowed a little on Saturday, and quite a bit yesterday. DH went out and blew the driveway after supper, and by the time we went to bed, it needed to be shoveled again. When I shoveled this morning, I'm guessing that we got a couple more inches since he blew.

Day 29 of 366

It was DH's birthday. Here are a photo if his presents.

Day 28 of 366

We are having a lazy day at home. DH did go out hunting this morning, but he didn't get anything. It was in the 40's earlier and the snow we got last night 1.5 inches) all melted. Right now it is snowing again. Here's what they are predicting for us:

Day 27 of 366

Today the youngest and I ran errands & got stuff for my DH's birthday this weekend. While we were out and about I spied this:
It took be back to being a kid and going to the state fair and hitting the union booth/square there. They use to raffle (for free) off a 5 pound salted nut roll. I know that one time someone in my family won while we were living in Germany and they mailed some to us. The nut roll also made me a bit more homesick. Oh well, so is the life of being an adult.

Day 26 of 366

This is what I made my youngest for breakfast. The bottom is just a freezer waffle. It's spread with Philadelphia White Chocolate spread & Nutella. Then I sliced some strawberries on it and added cool whip. I got the leftovers and it was really good.

Day 25 of 366

Yesterday I made bread. Not the old fashion way since I'm way to lazy to do it that way, but in my bread machine. It seems like lately we have been eating homemade bread a lot more, but that might be because it's cold outside.
Back to the making bread, I tried a new thing. I mixed some sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon & a tiny bit of nutmeg together and put it in the bread. While it didn't spiral as nice as I hoped, the kids loved it.

Day 24 of 366

I have been going through some of my recipe books to get rid of them. I saw this and thought that it was funny. If you would like to see it bigger, let me know, and I get post it bigger.

Day 23 or 366

Today is just a quiet day at home. It is suppose to start raining sometime soon, and turn to snow tomorrow or so. The youngest is playing with his toys quietly so I can do some picking up around the house.
And here's a shot of the temp that I took so I won't forget that we are having a heatwave.

Day 22 of 366

Today was a semi lazy day. We had brunch, ran a couple of errands, hit the sledding hill, and now everyone is relaxing. I am taking a break from cleaning out my cookbooks. I have no clue how many I have, but I have a lot. I'm hoping to get them all down to 1 bookcase which is asking a lot. I cleaned them out a few years ago, and I got rid of 4 diaper boxes full. Photo will come tomorrow when there is daylight.
This is my main bookcase of cookbooks. On top of it is my scrapbooks.
This is the other bookcase that I have taken over. Not all of the books on the bottom are cookbooks, but the rest of them are.

Day 21 of 366

On Saturday, I cleaned out 2 of the 3 kids' rooms. I managed to get rid of a bunch of stuff which is a good thing since we will find out in March when and where we are moving to. Photos will come tomorrow.
This is the youngest child's room. His room was much cleaner on Saturday, but it's still considered cleaner than how it normally looks.

Day 20 of 366

Today the youngest & I ran a couple of errands, and then made Brownie bites. These still aren't frosted since they're fresh out of the oven. Once they are cool, I'll frost them with cream cheese frosting and put sprinkles on them. I predict that they are gone before the weekend is over. I'll try to take an after photo if I remember.
Here are a photo of the bites after they have been frosted. They taste really good.

Day 19 of 366

The 4 year old and I are in the mist of the joys of potty training. We having been trying this for awhile, but I think that he's FINALLY starting to get the big picture and starting to catch on. I hope that it clicks soon since I hate to do potty training. Ignore the empty toilet paper roll. There is tp there, but on the shelf across from the potty. Whomever build this house didn't plan real well with distance between the toilet & the tp. If it's on the roll, your leg is pinning it to the wall so it won't turn.

Day 18 of 366

After a quick trip to Walmart to pick up photos, I am getting to work on the girls' school scrapbooks. I have found that I'm only missing 2 photos through the years so I can live with that (my camera was stolen when we moved 2 years ago & I didn't have the photos on it backed up). I should hopefully be able to get the books up to date by this weekend if I work on it.

Day 17 of 366

Somehow amazingly I'm still doing this. Today's photo is our backyard. Friday when we got the storm it was white. Today with the rain (yes rain) and warmer temps, a lot of the snow melted away. We are due to get snow tonight and tomorrow though. Oh joys....

Monday, January 16, 2012

Day 16 of 366

It was a lot warmer today. We ran a few errands and got a treat at Starbucks while doing so. After we got home we all bundled up and headed to the sledding hill. Even I went down the hill with the youngest.

Day 15 of 366

It was cold on Sunday. Really cold. -20F when I woke up. It did warm up to the positives during the day though thankfully. We ended up staying inside most of the day. DH set up our train tracks and the kids had a blast playing with them.

Day 14 of 366

The snow had stopped by the time we got up this morning. From what I could figure out, we got 14.6 inches of it. The outside world totally looks different.

Day 13 of 366

So, you saw what it looked like yesterday. Today it looks totally different. I opened the blinds this morning at 7:30 while my oldest 2 were eating breakfast. The grass was still green. When we headed about about 20 minutes later, it was completely white. We did the shuffle down to the bus stop (it had rained all night, so there was slush under the snow making it slick), and waited for the bus. By the time I came back to the house (about 20 minutes later), you couldn't even see the girls' tracks in the snow (see the first image). By 8:50 (school starts at 8:45 here), we got the call that school had been called and they would be getting off at 11:30. It took the oldest about an hour to get home. Middle child took about 90 minutes to get home. Normally the rides home for the kids are 30-45 minutes long.
The second image is one I just took (around 4pm). The weather gurus are guessing that we have about 6.9 inches of white stuff with another 3-5 inches to come. Add into that, we have been getting some really good wind gust so I couldn't see the mailboxes from our house (only about 3 houses down).

Day 12 of 366

Our day started out with a phone call before 5 am saying that the girls had a 2 hour delay. By 7, they had a "snow day" but without the snow. Instead it's an ice day. We didn't get that much of it, and it's already melting off the trees and buildings thankfully.

Day 11 of 366

This is an afghan that I started back in 2005 when we moved back to the states. I finally finished it this week. I already started a new one tonight even.

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

Day 10 of 366

This morning we needed umbrellas while walking to the bus stop. It was 36F out. At least we didn't get any snow. Photo was taken with my iTouch since I didn't want to get the good camera wet.

Monday, January 9, 2012

Day 9 of 366

When I woke up this morning, it was calling for a cloudy morning with sun in the afternoon. I think that they missed the memo about the snow. The only reason why our driveway is still black is because we salt it. Otherwise it would be white too. All of the snow (except where I shoveled snow to) melted this weekend. The grass was green when we left for our walk to the bus stop.

Sunday, January 8, 2012

Day 8 of 366

I did an errand for my DH the other day, and I found this pot of orchids on sale for $5. Orchids are one of the house plant that I have always wanted (the others are a christmas cactus which I have and an african violet which I just killed). Hopefully I can get this one blooming again soon. If so, hopefully I'll be able to bring it on the move with us this summer or fall.

Day 7 of 366

I found a new toy for the kids to share. Zinkies. The kids love them. I have a feeling that they are going to go missing fairly fast since they are so tiny.

Friday, January 6, 2012

Day 6 of 366

This winter weather is starting to drive me crazy. It snowed out yesterday, and it snowed out last night. Enough that I had to shovel the driveway when I got home from the gym this morning. Most of the snow that we got the last 2 days (except where I tossed the shoveled stuff of course) has melted. Oh well, I at least the grass is still green so it's not that bad to look at.

Thursday, January 5, 2012

Day 5 of 366

We are getting more "lovely" snow today even though the forecast only said there was a 50% chance of it. Today's photo is of my youngest playing in his new tent. You can see his camo pants hiding while he does a puzzle.

Wednesday, January 4, 2012

Day 4 of 366

This morning when I left for the gym, it was -6 out. The tv at the gym said that we had a -21 windchill. BRRRR! By the time we headed out to the bus stop, it was up to 0. Right now at 7pm (EST), it's still +23 here. That is a huge difference from this morning.
As for my picture of the day, it's the leftovers from supper. I made turkey noodle soup from scratch. It actually turned out really good considering I didn't use a recipe to make it.

Tuesday, January 3, 2012

Day 3 of 366

We were suppose to get 18-30 inches of white stuff the last few days. This is all that we got. I was expecting more, but I'm happy in some ways we didn't get it. Instead we got cold temps (currently 6 out at 5 pm EST).

Monday, January 2, 2012

Day 2 of 366

We finally got a bit of snow yesterday. It's not the 9-15 inches that they were calling for, but it was enough to go sledding on.

Sunday, January 1, 2012

Day 1 of 366

This is what we did today. I swear that I am never making another one of these...at least not from a kit.
